The queimada ritual is of unknown origin, some say it began to be popular in Galicia in Celtic times, others attribute it to the Middle Ages. What is clear is that this alcoholic drink has been traditionally used to break curses and ward off evil spirits.
With this experience you will live the magic and the Galician culture. You will meet your guide at the San Martiño square to go to the place where the ceremony will start. You will gather around a table with a large clay pot in the centre. At that moment the help of a druid or a Galician meiga will come into action, who will explain how to make the queimada.
Water, earth and fire, the three most important elements of nature, will be present in the elaboration of this drink. The meiga will recite the incantation, traditionally known as “conxuro da queimada”, with which you will call for good luck just before tasting the drink.
After the ritual, you will go on to a tasting of the freshly prepared queimada drink.
