First, journey through the fertile plain of Beotia, crossing the towns of Thebes – home of King Oedipus – and stopping off at the quaint mountainside villages of Levadia and Arachova. Then it's on to Delphi, considered the centre of ancient world, and whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of Hellenic civilisation. Tour the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, set beautifully on the slopes of towering Mt Parnassus.
You'll visit the Treasury of the Athenians and the Temple of Apollo. You can also spend some time in the museum, which contains such masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias. Lunch is in the modern village of Delphi.
