Un po' di storia
Leap into the pages of a fairytale at Schwerin Castle, a must-see landmark in Germany’s Mecklenburg region. Perched on a small island in Lake Schwerin, the castle's exterior is a feast for the eyes, adorned with striking turrets and sculptures. Once the grand residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg, the castle now houses the Mecklenburg State Parliament. Step inside to marvel at opulent reception rooms, drawing rooms, the Ancestral Gallery and more.
The dazzling Throne Room is a show-stopper, adorned with golden decor and grand chandeliers. Keep an eye out for the friendly ghost Petermännchen too – they say he's hidden in paintings and statues around the castle. Outside, you can enjoy walking around the gardens and another highlight is the floating meadow. In summer, the castle hosts open-air concerts so keep an eye out before your visit.
