The Cathedral of Santa Maria is located in the upper part of town. Poses the widest gothic nave of the world which is 22,98 m wide.
The construction works of the Cathedral date back to the 11th century when romanesque architecture started and followed all the way through the 13th with the Gothic movement. The Cathedral works finalized in the18th century and has been declared World Heritage.
The extensive and long history of the Cathedral has gifted high value which now is showcased to the visitor. The main pieces of art are “The Tapestry of Creation”, Paleochristian sarcophagi, Book of the Beat (10th century), Ara of the altar and the Episcopal chair.
