Discover Vietri sul Mare and Cetara, two towns on the Amalfi Coast, on a guided tour starting from Salerno. This experience will allow you to find out more about some of the area's traditional activities, including pottery and anchovy fishing.
Vietri sul Mare, the first southern town of the renowned Amalfi Coast, is famous for the production of ceramics with the typical bright Mediterranean colors. Vietri is considered an open-air museum because the master potters exhibit their art outside the shops, making the town a spectacle of art and color. You will also have free time to admire the Cathedral of San Giovanni and the colorful town hall villa. Your guide will tell you more about the town, resting on two almost identical rocks that, according to Greek mythology, were two brothers drowned in the area's waters.
Afterward, you'll reach the village of Cetara, the most authentic village on the coast, famous for anchovy fishing and 'colatura di alici', an exquisite and valuable anchovy dripping. You will visit a typical shop where you'll be shown the preparation of this precious local product and, of course, you will have the chance to taste it. Choose to enjoy lunch in one of the characteristic 'trattorie' of the place and conclude your experience along the walkway overlooking the marina. Here, you'll glimpse 'le lampare', typical anchovy fishing boats, the imposing Saracen tower standing on the beach, and the green and yellow dome of the cathedral, perfectly matching the deep blue of the coastal sea.
