No man is an island but Lanzarote is an island that owes a lot to one man. The legacy of artist and architect Cesar Manrique is everywhere – his buildings and sculptures dot Lanzarote. He conceived LagOmar to evoke the Arabian Nights tales. It has a cave-bar, a restaurant, apartments and a museum. Next, you'll visit the Cactus Garden, where Manrique landscaped more than 7,000 cactuses of all shapes and sizes. Then, hop on a boat and sail to La Graciosa, a volcanic island surrounded by Europe's largest marine reserve. Enjoy lunch and some free time on its virgin beaches.

After about an hour and a half at sea, seeking out signs of activity for dolphins and whales, you'll land on the island's idyllic shores. White sand dunes shimmer beneath the clear seas, inviting you to swim and explore this protected natural area.Head off on one of the paths, or keep to the shores doing as much, or as little, as you like. Then, after about two hours, you'll board the jet boat once more to skirt your way back to Lanzarote – keeping watch for the flying fish that often put on a show.

    Sunset & Dolphins

As combinations go, it's hard to beat a sunset cruise with a dolphin-watching expedition. But that's exactly what this evening excursion is all about. The Biosfera sails from Puerto del Carmen marina early in the evening. For more than two hours, your captain will take you to waters famed for their dolphins though sightings are not guaranteed. As the boat zooms along the Atlantic, you'll be served Cava and pastries. And soon it'll be time for the other big show – sunset. Pink, gold and scarlet skies are a common sight. For the return back to port, you'll cruise past volcanic cliffs and secluded coves.
