George Washington was born in the early 1730's, in Pope's Creek Estate, Virginia and became one of the most powerful, influential and well-known historical figures of all times. First President of the United States, Founding Father of the United States and leader of the continental army during the Independence War against the British troops. He was also the one who supervised the writing of what is known today as the United States Constitution. He led America through an intense period of moral, constitutional, and political crisis that resulted in a new form of federal government.
But who was really this man, contemporary of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, who did so much for America and influenced the course of history forever? Where did he live, what habits did he have, what was his room like, did he own slaves? What did he do when he wasn't busy organizing campaigns and planning battles? Those are just a few questions that will be answered at George Washington's Plantation in Virginia called Mount Vernon.
