What to expect

This tour of Corfu begins at the Durrells spot at the center of Corfu.

You will stop for a while at the Town Hall square with the theater of San Giacomo a Baroque Renaissance building of the early 18th cent.

Then you will proceed to the Esplanade square, with the most important monuments of Corfu town.

The Liston buildings are decorated with French arcades. The place is reminiscent of Rui De Rivoli in Paris.

The old Byzantine fortress of Corfu was built in the 6th cent ΑD and it was reinforced in the years of Venetian rule. The citadel of Corfu stood between the imposing rocks of the promotory and for many centuries the fortress protected Corfu from attacks.

The Bosketo garden enjoys views of the fortress and this lovely place is dedicated to the famed authors Lawrence and Gerald Durrell.

The palace of St. George and St. Michael was built in the years of the British protectorate. It is an elegant regency style building with an ionic peristyle.

The church of St. Spyridon is the most venerated church on the island. Inside the church there is a small crypt and the relic of St. Spyridon is laid within a silver gilt ebony casket.

The Campielo area is the oldest most authentic part of Corfu. You’ll pass through narrow alleys with Italianate houses, shady squares and picturesque churches.

In a short distance is situated the new fortress of Corfu. It was built in the 16th. cent, an impressive example of Italian defensive architecture. The area around the fortress is very charming with the Tenedos church, the traditional old houses and the Jewish neighborhood.

As soon as you finish viewing Corfu Town, the crew will be awaiting you on board, while passing by the city of Corfu town with its remarkable pastel colored 400 year-old Venetian houses and the old fortress.

The crew will provide their expertise regarding the Durell Family and even the spots will be shown, where they took scenes for the successful series of the Durrell’s by the producer Christopher Hall from 2016-2019.

Even from the seaside you will see the elegant Mon Repos Palace, where Queen Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip was born in 1921.

Finally you will reach the idyllic “Mouse island” and the white precious looking Greek orthodox church “Vlacherna”- both serve as landmarks of Corfu island.

Next you will sail back and anchor at the beautiful island “Vidos” with its untouched nature.

Afterwards you will relax on board and listen to several short stories of the Durrell’s whilst sailing along the picturesque east coast towards the North. You will see the beautiful Venetian Villa in “Kontokali”, where they had been filming the main part of the famous Durrell series…and you will spot the idyllic Chapel of “Saint Arsenius”, the favorite bathing area of Larry & Nancy Durrell.

Last but not least…arriving at the pretty village on the coast “Kalami”, where you can have excellent lunch at the famous “White house”, where Lawrence Durrell lived with his wife Nancy in the 1930″s.

This trip, combining a walking and sailing tour is something different and will be an unforgettable experience!

Corfu Tour with Achillion Palace and Paleokastritsa

Northern Corfu is all idyllic villages, monuments and rugged coastline. Head into sun-dappled rolling hills to discover Achillion Palace, the scenic Paleokastritsa coast and many other delights. There's also a visit to a kumquat distillery to sample this trademark Corfu liqueur. Spiros, one of our local guides, says, ‘Kumquat liqueur is a uniquely Corfu phenomenon – it's made nowhere else in Greece. It's a part of our Corfiot identity. To learn how this Asian fruit came to the island is a real eye-opener.'You'll visit some of Corfu's top attractions. First up is Achillion Palace. The palace boasts stirring views of the Corfu coast, and the meticulously landscaped gardens are a work of art. Spiros adds, ‘Empress Sissi of Austria was enamoured with Corfu and its mythological heritage, particularly the story of Achilles, and the palace and gardens are filled with sculptures of Greek gods and goddesses.' The vistas are also top-notch at the seaside village of Paleokastritsa. You'll have free time to visit the Orthodox monastery – admission is free – or the many coves with beautiful beaches. A boat trip can also be arranged here.Plus, you'll get to sample the trademark flavour of rural Corfu. There's a visit to a family-owned kumquat distillery. Here, you'll learn everything there is to know about this exotic citrus fruit. Marmalade, soda drinks and syrup are just some of the products made from kumquat. But it's the sweet and fragrant liqueur – often sold in Corfu-shaped bottles – that's become an island icon.

Premier Corfu Tour including Bella Vista and Old Perithia

A great day out in some of Corfu's most beautiful spots. Tragic Empress Sisi fell in love with the island – and you'll see why on this adults-only tour laden with fishing harbours, a deserted village, a fortress and amazing scenery. Eleni, one of our guides, says of her favourite stop, ‘I've lived here all my life – and yet the first time I visited Old Perithia, I thought that I was in heaven. That's how special it is.'You won't have long to wait to discover it, but first up is Bella Vista. Here, you can gaze at the Paleocastritsa coastline from above. ‘The views over heart-shaped bays will reveal why locals call it the Balcony of the Gods,' says Sofia, another of our expert local guides. Next, you'll head to the once-abandoned village of Old Perithia. Take a stroll among restored Venetian-era stone dwellings and groves teeming with wildflowers, almond, oak and walnut trees. ‘You'll not only get the historic background,' says Eleni. ‘But also the stories hidden in the walls of the abandoned houses.'En route to Kassiopi, we'll enjoy lunch with local wine in a family owned taverna. Kassiopi, with its busy little fishing harbour and pretty lace shops, is a delight. Rounding off the day is a visit to Corfu town's Venetian-built Old Fortress. It boasts a Greek revival church and great views over the old town. What's more, admission fees help maintain the fortress and purchases in the villages support the local economy.
