The inside story
Pearl Harbor's name is inevitably associated with the surprise air attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy on December 7, 1941, that resulted in the United States' entry into WW2. The Pearl Harbor National Memorial was built in order to commemorate that fatal day and the lives lost during the attack.
The memorial is made up of nine historic sites representing different aspects of the war in the Pacific. Among them, the USS Arizona Memorial marks the resting place of 1,102 sailors and marines killed on the day of the attack. Only reachable by boat, the memorial is built on the sunken wreck of the ship. The memorial gives the opportunity to reconnect with history and remember the fallen providing historical information about the attack
