You will start the day visiting the underworld, where you can see and understand how volcanoes created Iceland. You will explore an amazing underground lava tube (get ready to crawl when the ceiling gets a bit low!).
After exploring the wonderful Raufarhólshellir Lava Tube, you will be dropped off at a café bakery for a lunch break. You will then be picked up at around 12:00 for an exciting drive of the famous Golden Circle route. The first stop will be at Þingvellir National Park (en. Parliament Fields). Þingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the original birthplace of the oldest existing parliament in the world. Also, this is a place where American and Euroasian tectonic plates meet. Perfect spot to take photos!
Moving forward to the geothermal area of Geysir. There you will have a chance to enjoy the views of hot water bubbling from the ground and the most active geyser Strokkur. It erupts every 4-10 minutes and treats visitors to a show giving you that tingly feeling in your stomach.
The last stop is at Gullfoss (e. Golden Waterfall) - one of the most magnificent waterfalls in Iceland!
With this trip you are combining nature, history and geology, all in one!
