In a region as steeped in legend as the Sinai peninsula, few places can hold a candle to the historic St Catherine's Monastery. On this tour, you'll visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site and then head to the pretty coastal resort of Dahab for lunch.
St Catherine's Monastery has stood at the foot of Mt Sinai – where God handed Moses the Ten Commandments – for some 1,500 years. Thick walls of up to 35 metres in height protect what is effectively a secluded world suspended in time. Visit the ornately decorated Basilica – which itself encloses the Chapel of the Burning Bush – and admire its priceless gilded icons and mosaics. Out in the courtyard is the holy Well of Moses – a drink from which will bring marital happiness. And the monastery's museum boasts a spectacular collection of Byzantine icons as well as precious chalices, and gold and silver crosses.
You‘ll then head to Dahab on the Gulf of Aqaba for lunch before returning to Sharm in the afternoon.
