Moses Mountain and St. Catherine Monastery are two attractions, and their surroundings majestic mountains sum up the magic and diversity of the Sinai Region. It is certainly true that the sheer magnificence of this place and its isolation from everyday life have inspired people of all religions.
You will leave Sharm El Sheikh and Dahab in the evening and drive for about 3 hours to the foot of Mount Musa, where it is traditionally believed Moses received the 10 commandments. With the help of your Bedouin guide, you will climb and reach the summit in time to see a glorious sunrise. It takes about two & half hours to make the climb and there are some stalls along the way where you can buy food, water and hot drinks.
After the climb and a rest to watch that beautiful day starting, it is time to descend and have your breakfast at a local restaurant near St. Catherine Monastery. Afterwards, take the chance to visit the Monastery. This stunning holy place was constructed by order of the Roman Emperor Justinian between 527 and 265 CE. it is said that Moses talked to God in the miracle of the Burning Bush located inside the Monastery. The Monastery itself is a spectacular natural setting for priceless multicultural works of art, Arab mosaics, Greek and Russian icons and oil paintings. After the visit, your bus will take you back to your accommodation in Dahab and Sharm El Sheikh.
