Puglia's Itria Valley is all olive groves, pretty towns and those characteristic white ‘trulli' houses – and this tour takes in two of its most characterful spots. You'll begin the day exploring Martina Franca old town, then head to Alberobello, the so-called ‘capital of the trulli houses', and wind down with a wine tasting.
The drive to your first destination will feature plenty a panorama of the lush green groves of Itria Valley. And once you arrive at Martina Franca, the heart of the Itria Valley, you'll set off on a relaxing walk along its intricate alleys lined with baroque palaces and churches. Afterwards, enjoy some free time for lunch – be sure to try the local ‘capocollo' ham – and shopping.
Your next stop will be the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Alberobello, the ‘capital of the trulli houses'. Here you'll find more than 1400 of these whitewashed houses with conical roofs, spread out over the hills of Rione Aia Piccola and Rione Monti. To end the tour, you'll head to an enoteca to sip your way through some local wines.
