What to expect

This tour showcases the best of Kos in just one day. You'll see the archaeological site of Asklepieon and the pretty hilltop village of Zia. And if that wasn't enough, there'll be a chance to taste local wines and honey, too. Sophia, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The Asklepieon of Kos was dedicated to Asklepius, the Greek god of healing and medicine, and it was known as a healing sanctuary in ancient times. The peaceful surroundings and the extensive gardens would have been calming and rejuvenating for patients.'

The sands of time may have changed ancient Asklepieon, but it remains one of Greece's most important archaeological sites. According to tradition, Hippocrates, who was born on the island of Kos, received his medical education and practiced at the Asklepieon. Among the attractions are the remains of the world's first hospital, where doctors learned about medicine from Hippocrates, and made the first hub for medical research.

You'll also visit the mountain village of Zia, which sprawls beneath Mount Dikaios and is best known for traditional architecture and wonderful views of the coast. Here you'll taste the local kanelada drink and have the chance to look around the craft shops and find somewhere for lunch. What's more, there's a tour and tasting session at a winery, alongside a visit to the seaside town of Kefalos, where you'll have free time to explore or relax on the beach. And to really sweeten-up your day, you'll get to sample the local honey, too.

Adults-only Kos Evening Catamaran cruise with drinks and snacks

The best part of the day begins when the heat starts to fade and the sea grows calmer. This evening catamaran cruise showcases Kos at its most relaxed, with coastal views and plenty of space to unwind. Julia, one of our local guides, explains how no two tours are exactly the same, “Around Kos, the sea can feel completely different from one bay to the next, so we let the wind conditions decide where we stop for a swim, rather than following the same route every day. It means you might discover a little sheltered bay that you'd easily sail past another day.”Your experienced captain will pick out the evening's prime swim spots and drop anchor in bays where you can dive in for a swim or simply relax on board. As you sail along the Aegean Sea on the sleek catamaran, make sure you cast your eyes up to see clifftop villages and little white chapels on sun-baked hills. You'll find the whole scene takes on a new level of wow once the sun begins to fade and you get that pre-dusk glow. On a clear evening, look out towards the horizon and you may even spot the Turkish coast – Kos sits just a few kilometres from the Bodrum Peninsula at its closest point.Throughout the cruise, you can sip a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks and nibble some light snacks, so everything's taken care of while you soak up the atmosphere. Designed for adults looking to switch off, this cruise combines gentle sailing, sea swims and a relaxed and friendly onboard atmosphere for an evening that you won't want to end.

Kos catamaran cruise with swim stops and lunch

Sail the Aegean on a catamaran as you cruise a scenic stretch of Kos' coastline, stop for swimming and spend the day soaking up the sun. From the moment you step on board, there's nothing to do but get comfy, take in the views and let the sea breeze work its magic. The captain makes a few swim stops along the way, too, giving you the chance to hop in and cool off in the water. Marta, one of our expert local guides, says, “On clear days, local skippers often point out the mountains of the Turkish coast across the water, reminding us how close Kos sits to Asia Minor.”With soft music setting the vibe and a friendly crew making sure everyone's topped up with drinks and snacks, it's impossible not to drift into full holiday mode. There's even a proper lunch menu served on board, so you can refuel, sunbathe and keep that lazy day rhythm going. And because the catamaran is so spacious, you'll always find your perfect spot, whether that's stretched out in the sun, tucked into a shady corner or leaning over the rail watching the coastline glide by. Marta adds, “The calmest swimming conditions are found in the more sheltered coves, which is why your captain will decide the exact anchor points according to the day's wind.” All in all, it's coastal cruising made easy and a lovely, laidback way to see Kos from the sea.
