Full day Tenerife Tour with La Laguna and Wine Tasting

Dusty and lunar-like in the south, green and mountainous in the north, Tenerife packs a continent into one island. Think quaint villages, stunning views and wine tasting on this full day experience. You'll visit the UNESCO-listed old town of La Laguna, drop into a bodega for a wine tasting and explore two plantations. Arianne, one of our local expert guides, says, ‘This is a tour with a difference, offering the perfect combination between north and south, and culture and nature.'First up is a visit to an aloe vera plantation. Here, you'll learn about the healing qualities – especially skincare – of this crop. Then it's on to La Laguna, arguably the prettiest town on the island. Throw in its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it makes for a real gem of a stop. Wander its poker-straight streets of pastel-coloured palaces and colonial-era churches and convents, or stop for a coffee in one of the cool tree-lined plazas. Taste local products such as marmalade and cheese in the weekly market and admire the town's famous flower displays. It's then on to a rustic, family-run winery for a typical Canarian lunch surrounded by vintage bottles and aged barrels. All ingredients are seasonal and locally sourced to reduce the environmental impact. And it goes without saying that you'll get to taste a selection of the bodega's wines. Rounding off the day is a tour of a banana plantation. Sample the sweet and juicy local variety, which is highly regarded throughout Spain.

La Laguna Walking Tour with Local Guide

A mix of volcanic belfries and rainbow-coloured homes, La Laguna is so pretty that's it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Uncover all the standout selfie spots and wow-factor monuments of this colonial town with a local expert. You'll visit a mansion-turned-museum, the cathedral and an artisan shop. Arianne, one of our guides, says, ‘This is the perfect excursion if you love a bit of history and mystery. We've crafted this tour to introduce you to La Laguna's hidden corners.'La Laguna dates from the Castilian conquest of Tenerife in the 15th century. It was their first capital, and its layout served as a blueprint for later Spanish colonial cities in Latin America. Built on a grid of eight elegant streets crisscrossed by eight alleys, it's crammed with pastel-coloured colonial-style buildings. Your guide will point out ornate carved wooden balconies, the burned-out shell of a convent and much more. See the Leal Theatre and learn all about the impact of the Napoleonic Wars at tree-studded Plaza de la Junta Suprema.Plus, you'll get an up-close look at the antiquities in the Cayetano Gomez Felipe Museum. This restored 18th century palace has its own wood balcony overlooking the landmark Conception church. You'll also visit the cathedral, where you can admire a magnificent altar dedicated to the Virgin of Los Remedios. And there's a visit to a shop selling footwear – no two pairs are the same – and accessories made from Canary Islands banana fibres, which helps local farmers.
