On this ten-day Alaskan adventure explore mountains, rivers, glaciers, beaches and pretty much everything in between. From puffin spotting to canoeing, from urban exploring to volcano hopping, from hiking to flying, this tour highlights some of Alaska's most famous and spectacular sights.
Day 1: Anchorage
(Activity - Group dinner)
Take a beautiful flight over the Chugach, Alaskan, Kenai, and Talkeetna mountain ranges. You could even catch a glimpse of famous Mount Denali. Keep an eye out for bears, moose, and wolves. Take this evening to get to know your fellow travelers and guides over the group dinner.
Days 2 & 3: Seward
(Activities - Alaska Goldstar train, hike to Exit Glacier, Sled Dog Tour, 7.5 Hour wildlife cruise)
This morning you will eat a delicious breakfast on board the famous Alaskan Railroad while travelling along the Turnagain Arm and through the Chugach Mountains. To stretch your legs and work off that all-inclusive breakfast, you will hike around Exit Glacier before enjoying a sled dog tour with 3-time Iditarod winner, Mitch Seavey.
On day 3 you will visit the Kenai Fjords National Park by boat, where you will search for humpback whales, orcas, seals, sea lions, otters and many birds. The boat will stop in front of two calving glaciers: listen to the sounds of cracking ice and enjoy a drink on the rocks!
Days 4 & 5: Homer
(Optional acitvities - flightseeing and bear viewing or a kayaking tour)
On the way to Homer there will be enough time for some scenic photo stops and short walks. Depending on the time of the year you will stop to watch the salmon leaping up Russian River or visit one of the Russian orthodox churches overlooking the Ring of Fire volcanoes on the other side of the bay.
On day 5 you have a free day for optional activities. You can enjoy a scenic flight across the Cook Inlet seeing volcanoes and glaciers, before viewing some of Alaska’s largest brown bears in their natural habitat, accompanied by an experienced bush pilot/bear guide.
If you decide on the “Day on the Bay” you’ll hop on a local water taxi across Kachemak Bay before taking part in a half-day kayak trip. Paddle around hidden coves and have a salmon-sandwich picnic on a remote beach. Local transport will take you to the small village of Seldovia from where you’ll hop a scenic flight back to Homer.
Or you can simply explore Homer's relaxing atmosphere.
Day 6: Girdwood
(Activity - Alyeska Tram)
Today you will make your way back north staying close at Alaska’s Premier ski resort where you will hop on the Alyeska Aerial Tram which takes you to sensational viewing experiences overlooking the Turnagain Arm and viewing of 7 hanging glaciers in the heart of the Chugach Mountains.
Day 7: Talkeetna
(Optional activities - Denali flightseeing, jet boat or rafting
It’s a short drive to Talkeetna, home to the convergence of three major glacial rivers, and there are several great trails in the area to explore on your own. Be sure to walk around downtown Talkeetna where you will find quaint shops, local breweries, restaurants and more. No trip would be complete without adding the optional activity of flying over Denali National Park and around Mt. Denali.
Days 8 & 9: Denali National Park
(Activities - Denali Visitor Center/hike the front-country of Denali National Park, rafting, Eielsen Wildlife Shuttle)
On days 8 and 9 you will explore the park, glimpsing Mount Denali , Horseshoe Lake and wildlife. We will take the bus out to Eielson Visitor Center where, on clear days, you will have a fantastic view of Mount Denali.
Day 10: Anchorage
