During this private tour, you will not only taste six local beers at six beautiful, authentic locations, but you’ll also learn all about our Belgian beer culture.
The Belgian beer culture is the only one that is officially UNESCO world heritage, and it’s a very special one indeed. It is the combination of history, tradition, extremely high quality and diversity which convinced UNESCO.
You will start the tasting with a local ‘bière brut’ made the same way as champagne next to the Antwerp cathedral. You'll discover how delicious it is! Next, you will taste the second beer of the city of Antwerp in the oldest bar in the city, from 1565. The beer is known as "Bolleke'' the name after the glass in which it is served. You will discover how pleasant and refreshing it is! The tasting will continue with one of the more modern beers, a mildly hopped blond.
Then, the fourth beer has a very interesting historic story as this is a very old beer type that completely disappeared and then resurfaced. Afterward, you will taste a Trappist beer made by monks and very traditional in an old city mansion, with a courtyard, which dates back to the 16th century. Finally, you will end the tour in the most authentic Belgian bar in all of Antwerp, with a local tripel, a strong blond beer with a fruity touch.
